Publicis Sapient

Publicis Sapient interview questions

Publicis Sapient keeps one process shape for most roles in India and changes what the technical rounds test. You start with a coding test or an MCQ screen, then one or two technical rounds, then a managerial round the company calls Core Value, then HR. UI engineers get separate JavaScript and React rounds, backend engineers get Java and Spring Boot, and data engineers get Spark and SQL.

Roles covered: Associate Software Development Engineer (ASDE) for freshers; Senior Associate Technology, Experience Engineer (UI) and Data Engineer for experienced hires. We are not affiliated with Publicis Sapient and this is not an official question bank. It describes what candidates consistently report, reviewed for the 2025–26 hiring cycle. Confirm the current process on the company’s own careers page before you apply.

The rounds
01

Coding test or MCQ screen

Freshers take an online coding test. Experienced hires may get an MCQ screen instead

DSA for freshers, and core language questions for experienced hires.

02

Technical rounds

One or two rounds of about an hour, with live coding in a shared editor

UI: JavaScript and React. Backend: Java 8, Spring Boot and microservices. Data: PySpark and SQL.

03

Core Value round

Behavioural, with a manager or leader

Collaboration, ownership, learning, and how you've lived the company's values at work.

04

HR

The final conversation

Compensation and the documents needed for background verification.

Technical round

(UI) What is a closure? Predict the output of this snippet.

Explain closures with a counter example, then read the snippet line by line out loud. Output-prediction questions are common in UI rounds.

(UI) Build a small component that fetches data using React hooks.

Handle the loading and error states, and explain the useEffect dependencies. You'll usually code it live.

(Backend) Implement an LRU cache.

Use a hash map with a doubly linked list and explain why both operations run in O(1).

(Backend) How do you handle exceptions across a Spring Boot microservice?

Explain @ControllerAdvice and consistent error responses, then how you'd trace a failure through an API gateway.

(Data) Write a PySpark transformation, then explain partitioning and bucketing.

Write the code first, then explain how data moves between partitions and when bucketing speeds up a join.

Explain SOLID, and when you'd use Factory versus Singleton.

This comes up across every role family. Use an example from your own code.

HR round

Walk me through your final-year project or internship.

Freshers get this in most rounds. Know your stack and your own contribution.

Which of our core values matters most to you?

Read the company's values before the interview and pick one you can back with a real story.

Why Publicis Sapient?

Talk about its digital transformation and client work, and link it to the kind of projects you want to do.

What's your expected CTC, and are your documents ready for verification?

Have a researched number, and keep your relieving letter, payslips and certificates ready. Missing documents slow the offer down.

What candidates get wrong here
  • Prepare for your own role family. A UI candidate won't be asked Spark, and a data candidate won't be asked React.
  • Prepare at least two real stories for the Core Value round.
  • Expect live coding in a shared editor, and practise explaining your thinking while you type.

Practise them, don’t only read them

Practise these against an AI interviewer that asks the follow-ups and scores your answer, including the HR questions on notice period and expected CTC. Or check your resume first with the free ATS score checker.
