Walk me through how you'd design the URL shortener for a service like bit.ly.
I'd use a hash function and store the mapping in a database. The hash function would be MD5 or SHA.
I'd separate the read and write paths. Writes go through an ID generator (base62 of an auto-increment counter, not a hash, so we don't collide and we don't leak volume). Reads hit a cache fronting the database. The interesting trade-offs are around collision handling, hot-key sharding for celebrity URLs, and how the redirect service stays stateless. Analytics (who clicked, when, and from where) is a separate write path, so it never blocks the redirect.

What is an interview drive?

Is this a voice interview?
No. It is typed, start to finish, with no microphone and no video. That is deliberate: it works on a weak connection, in an open office, and without you booking a meeting room to talk to your laptop.
What kind of feedback do I get?
A score for each round against what that round tests, a written summary, and specific suggestions for what to change next time. At the end of a drive you also get an overall verdict and the round you were weakest in. Your full transcript is kept, so you can read the answer that lost you the score.
How long does a session run?
A single conversation is shorter than a full drive, and the time remaining is shown on screen throughout. When it runs out, new messages stop but you can still close the session and receive your complete feedback.
Can I practise for a specific company?
Set the role and level to match the position. For company rounds, read the company guides first (TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, Cognizant, Capgemini), then rehearse those questions against the AI interviewer.
What if I freeze on a question?
Type whatever you would actually say. The interviewer reads your honest attempt and asks a clarifying follow-up from it. The point of practising here is that you can get it wrong in private first.
