Location, what it is known for economically, one administrative fact and one problem it faces. Board members frequently come from or have served in your region, so vagueness here is noticed immediately.
You have an engineering degree. Why this service?
Do not apologise for the degree. Connect the training to the work: analytical habit, project execution, public infrastructure. Then give one honest personal reason, since panels can tell a coached answer from a real one.
A question you cannot answer.
Say you do not know, clearly and without filling the silence. Guessing at length is scored worse than the gap. If you know a part of it, offer that part and stop.
- Read your own bio-data form again the night before. Hobbies and your optional subject are opened first because they are on the form.
- Practise sitting upright and speaking slowly. The panel scores bearing, and nerves show in speed.
- Follow current affairs for the six months before the board, with a bias towards your state.
