MAQ Software interview questions
MAQ Software hires most freshers through campus drives that finish in a day or two. You take an online test with aptitude and coding, then one or two technical interviews and an HR round, which is sometimes folded into the last technical interview. The thing candidates mention most is SQL. It comes up in almost every round, along with DSA, OOP and a close look at your project.
Roles covered: Associate Software Engineer and Software Engineer 1 from campus, plus data analyst roles, in Noida, Hyderabad and Mumbai. We are not affiliated with MAQ Software and this is not an official question bank. It describes what candidates consistently report, reviewed for the 2025–26 hiring cycle. Confirm the current process on the company’s own careers page before you apply.
Online assessment
Aptitude plus coding. The number of coding problems varies by drive
Quantitative and logical aptitude, then easy-to-medium coding, sometimes including dynamic programming.
Technical interview 1
About 30 to 60 minutes
DSA, SQL queries and DBMS concepts, and your final-year project.
Technical interview 2
Not every drive has a second technical round
More SQL, OOP and C++ or Java internals, and optimising an earlier answer.
HR interview
Short, and sometimes merged into the last technical round
Why MAQ, your background and how you handle pressure.
Find the third-highest number in an array, then the second-highest salary in SQL.
MAQ often asks the same idea twice, once in code and once in SQL. Handle duplicates in both and say what happens with ties.
What's the difference between DELETE, TRUNCATE and DROP?
Cover what each removes, whether it can be rolled back, and whether it takes a WHERE clause.
Explain normalisation up to BCNF, and the ACID properties.
Use one small table to walk through the normal forms. For ACID, a bank transfer covers all four.
Check whether a string of brackets is balanced.
Start with the brute-force idea, then move to a stack and explain why the stack works.
What are virtual functions, and why do they matter?
Explain runtime polymorphism with a short example, and mention the virtual table if you know it.
Why do you want to join MAQ Software?
Mention its data, analytics and Microsoft-platform work, and connect it to SQL or data projects you've done.
Tell me about yourself.
Keep it short and end on your strongest project.
How do you handle several tasks under pressure?
Give one real example of prioritising, and say what you'd do differently next time.
Where do you see yourself in three years?
Show that you want to grow in engineering or data. If you're planning higher studies soon, be honest about it.
- Practise SQL until you can write joins, ranking and nth-highest queries without hesitating. It comes up in almost every round.
- Expect a one-day drive. Have your project explanation ready before the test, not after it.
- Revise DBMS theory as well as queries. Normalisation and ACID are asked often.
Practise them, don’t only read them
Practise these against an AI interviewer that asks the follow-ups and scores your answer, including the HR questions on notice period and expected CTC. Or check your resume first with the free ATS score checker.
