Relationship Manager resume

A relationship manager resume is read as a book of business. What did you own, how big was it, and did it grow while you held it? Everything else is context around those three numbers.

What gets checked first
  1. 01Portfolio size and value: number of accounts, book value, segment (retail, HNI, SME).
  2. 02Growth against a target, stated as a percentage or an absolute the reader can check.
  3. 03Product mix you have actually sold — CASA, term loans, insurance, mutual funds.
  4. 04Compliance record. KYC and AML discipline is a screening filter, not a nice-to-have.
Keywords the ATS matches on

Products

  • CASA
  • term loans
  • working capital
  • life insurance
  • mutual funds
  • trade finance

Segments

  • retail banking
  • HNI
  • SME
  • priority sector lending
  • NRI

Compliance and systems

  • KYC
  • AML
  • Finacle
  • CRM
  • credit appraisal

Put down only what is true and what you can be interviewed on. A term you cannot defend will win you the screening and then lose you the interview.

The same bullet, rewritten
Before

Handled a portfolio of customers and was responsible for cross-selling products.

After

Grew a 60-account SME book from 14 to 19 crore in four quarters, with CASA penetration up from 31% to 48%.

Mistakes that cost interviews
  • Naming employers without naming the segment. "Relationship Manager, HDFC" could mean retail or corporate, and those are different jobs.
  • Claiming targets "achieved" with no number. A screener reads that as under target.
  • Leaving out compliance entirely. A clean audit record is worth a line, and its absence gets noticed.

Questions

Should I put my book value on a resume?

Yes, as a range or a growth figure. If your employer treats exact numbers as confidential, use percentages — the shape of the achievement survives.

How do I show sales performance without sounding boastful?

State the target and the result side by side. Numbers against a benchmark read as factual; adjectives read as boastful.

Do banking certifications matter?

NISM, IRDA and JAIIB/CAIIB do, because they gate what you are allowed to sell. List them with the year.
