Product Manager resume

PM resumes are judged on the decisions you took. Running the standup, writing the PRD and coordinating with stakeholders only describes your calendar. What you shipped, what you decided to drop, and what moved as a result is what shows a screener you are a product manager.

What gets checked first
  1. 01Metrics you owned and actually moved: activation, retention, conversion, revenue.
  2. 02Scope: user counts, revenue line, team size, number of engineers you worked with.
  3. 03Evidence of prioritisation, especially something you killed or deferred and why.
  4. 04Whether you are technical enough for the posting, shown through what you shipped rather than claimed.

Put down only what is true and what you can be interviewed on. A term you cannot defend will win you the screening and then lose you the interview.

The same bullet, rewritten
Before

Managed the product roadmap and worked with engineering and design to deliver new features.

After

Owned onboarding for a 200k-MAU app; cut the signup flow from 6 steps to 3 after user testing, lifting activation from 34% to 51% in one quarter.

Mistakes that cost interviews
  • Ceremony as achievement: standups, sprint planning, PRDs written. Nobody hires for meeting attendance.
  • Claiming credit for a whole product's numbers. Name your surface and own that.
  • No numbers at all. A PM resume without metrics is the clearest possible signal of distance from the outcome.

Questions

How do I write a PM resume with no PM title?

Lead with the product decisions you made in whatever title you had: scoping, prioritising, talking to users, defining what shipped. The title matters less than the evidence.

Should a PM resume be one page?

One page up to about six years. Beyond that, two, with the earliest roles compressed to a line each.

Do I need to know SQL?

For most Indian product companies, yes at a basic level, and it's increasingly named in postings. It's also the cheapest gap on this list to close.
